Does anyone know if I can "crop" an Excel chart which has been imported into
Word. This is possible for pictures but I can't seem to do it for a chart.
I'm using Office 2007

If you paste the chart as a picture, you can crop the picture of the chart.

Thanks Jon. This does work but unfortunately the quality of the picture is
poor compared to the original chart. This is not good for publication
purposes. However I do appeciate your taking the time to respond to my
question.

If you have pasted the chart as a bitmap, and resizing you do is likely to
degrade image appearance. It would be better to size everything as much as
possible in Excel; stretch the plot area and move other chart elements, so
that cropping and resizing in Word is unnecessary. Then paste as a picture
(metafile).

Hmmm, the above was for Excel 2003 and prior, and I just noticed you
mentioned 2007. Metafiles of charts look pretty poor in 2007, and bitmaps
end up being a marginally better option. You should still adjust the chart
as much as possible in Excel to minimize manipulation within Word.

Simple solution is to paste the chart into a blank Word document formated to be 2003 compatable, you can then crop it, and copy and paste it where ever you want. You need to format the document first otherwise when you reformat it makes a mess of the chart.

Dont use the paste as picture option others might suggest it reduces the quality.
