Default How do I add subscripts to chart labels in Excel?

I'm trying to format labels (both axis and data) to include subscripts in
Excel 2003 and can't find a way to do it. I can change the label to be
ENTIRELY in subscript format, but that's no help. I'm trying to do chemical
formulae... like H2O as H(sub2)O. Any suggestions?

No Excel-native way that I am aware of. For one way, visit
Excel Tips and Cases
http://www.tushar-mehta.com/excel/tips/

scroll down and click on 'Dynamic textbox in chart with custom
formatting' The direct link will definitely change in the future.

You can replace the "real" axis labels with data labels as I show in this
example

http://peltiertech.com/Excel/Charts/...cNotation.html

and then edit the label text appropriately. Alternatively you could look for
a specialized font that contains subscript and superscript characters.
