Now it says "series 1" or similar and I can't figure out how to change it to
the description that exists in a particular cell. |

Click once on the chart (activate it). The standard toolbar should show an
option called "Chart". Click on "Chart" - "Source Data". In the "Source Data" dialog box go to the "Series" tab. You can reference the cell that you want for the legend description via the "Name" input area.
