Lorne -
Here are some workarounds for the Excel 2007 original release Regression charts. In the Regression dialog box, check the boxes for Residual Plots and Line Fit Plots. After Excel creates the output, click just inside the outer border of a chart to select it and then drag it to a new location. Then click and drag one of the eight resizing handles on the outer border of the chart. Any resizing will redraw the chart correctly. The Residual Plot chart is an appropriate XY (Scatter) chart type. The Line Fit Plot is originally created as a Column chart type. To change it, click just inside its outer border to select the chart. Choose Chart Tools | Design | Change Chart Type | XY (Scatter) with only Markers | OK. Click a data point on the chart to select the Predicted Y data series, or with any chart object selected, choose Chart Tools | Layout or Format. In the Current Selection area, verify that Series "Predicted Y" is selected from the drop-down list. Choose Format Selection | Line Color | Automatic | Close. Optionally, also choose Market Options to use a smaller marker instead of size 7 or to use None. Please let me know whether these workarounds are satisfactory for you. - Mike http://www.mikemiddleton.com wrote in message oups.com... I am experiencing the same problem when running regression in excel 2007. Does anyone know if there is a way to get around this problem? Is it possible to create a scatter plot & line of best fit graph manually given the outputs that excel provides after running the regression? I am in required to have a scatter plot with a line of best fit as outputs for the regressions I am running for a school assignment and prefer not to have to use an earlier version of excel to complete what I have already started in 2007. Any input is much appreciated. Thanks, Lorne |
