Default Line chart- exact intervals

I want to make a user defined line chart with dates on the bottom that
correspond to the exact dates in Column 1 of my worksheet. The line chart
wizard places the dates at even intervals, but I need exact dates.

1. Make sure the dates in the worksheet are numerical dates, not text.
2. Chart menu Chart Options Axes tab, change Category (X) Axis type to
Time Scale.

I've done that, but it still isn't giving exact dates. The date column is
formatted as dates and the numbers column is formatted as number, one decimal
place.

Double click the axis, and on the scale tab, change the base unit to Days.
