i am trying to draw a graph to compare the weight of an item to the cost to
paint it, however in chart wizard it will only let me plot the two lots of
information against each other, rather than putting the weight on the x axis,
and the cost on the y axis and plotting points on the chart

Put the weights (X values) in one column and the corresponding costs (Y
values) in the next column to the right. Select this range, run the chart
wizard, and choose XY chart (not Line chart) in step 1 of the wizard.
