Probably, but it would be easier to use an array formula.

wt=A
grade=B
next stage = C
thickness = D

=SUM((B1:B100="d")*((C1:C100="al")+(C1:C100="at")+ (C1:C100="ec"))*(D1:D100<1
..2)*(D1:D100.3)*(A1:A100))

enter with control+shift+enter, not just enter. Excel will put curly braces
around the formula if you enter it right.
