Default Use of the "OR" function

Give a man a fire and he will be warm the rest of the day
Set a man on fire and he will be warm the rest of his life

What's the old saying about giving a man a fish?

Suggest looking in HELP index for OR function syntax.

I am trying to use two logical conditions in writing an
IF,THEN,ELSE formula in Excel that does the following: IF
(C500C499) OR (O500C500) THEN SET IT TO 0, OTHERWISE DO
THE FOLLOWING (C500-O500)*30. Here's the formula that
I've used but it doesn't work: =(IF((C500C499)OR
(O500C500)),0,(C500-O500)*30)

The bottom line is that I'm not sure how to use the OR
function. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks for your help!
