Andrew,
You can't do it in a formula (without a VBA function), but just change the
CF function to test the other criteria as well, that is only set it if it is
past the certain date but not with the other criteria.

IF(AND(Y:Y="red", Z:Z="G"), "black", "red")
The "G" is the other criteria.
