I have set up a series of spreadsheets on our organisation server. They
read data from each other using Data Query and PivotTable. Some of
these run automatically when the file opens, some are updated manually.
The problem is that once the data query runs, this locks the source file
for an indefinite period. When I try to open the file, I get "The source
file is currently in use by USERNAME", although it is not. USERNAME is
always the last person who successfully opened the file; so sometimes
this is even my username! The only way I found to reliably get access
again is to restart our server. This is obviously not a workable
solution. Is there a problem with Excel, or is there something going on
with our network? Can anyone help??
