Default excel 2007 is very slow with every entry. why the delay?

Why is the entry process so slow. I have compacted the hard disk, run diagnostics, and even uninstalled the program and reinstalled. It did no good.

You have automatic Calculation on. By turning this off you will be able to
update you spreadsheet much faster.

To do this go to the Windows icon in the top left of the screen and click on
Excel Options. Then choose the Formulas button and under Calculation Options
choose the Manual radio button. Click OK.

Then your spreadsheet will only calculate when you hit F9 or close/save the
spreadsheet.

I would not use manual calculations as it is a false reading waiting to
happen. Besides, if you need manual calculations you have a design flaw.
