Default Date formula

Maybe you want:
=(a1+180)<today()

What's in A1?

Make sure it's a real date.

I have a need for this same type of formula, except, I need it to highlight
cells that are over 6 months old. I tryed changing the formula to
=(A1-180)<TODAY() and it highlights all cells that have a date in them. Even
if the date was yesterday. What am I doing wrong?

Select the cells where you want your formatting...
Let us assume A1:A20
Click on Format-Conditional Formatting
In Condition 1
Cell Value IS Equal To ="" and pick your formatting

Condition 2
Formula is =(A1-30)<TODAY() and pick your formatting
