You can use the 'Trim' function for this. It removes blanks spaces from a
cell except for blank spaces between words.

- Insert a column next to the column that needs to be changed.
- Enter the formula =TRIM(put the cell you want trimmed here)
- Then copy the formula down the as far as your data goes.

It should trim the leading blank spaces. You then can 'copy' the column
with the trim formulas and 'paste special'....values over top of original
column. Then just deleted the column with the TRIM formulas.

As with all changes to your data in a spreadsheet, make a back up copy of
your sheet before making any mass changes like this.

Can you give an example of some of the data? Is the data all the same
length? Do you always just want to removed 1 character from the front or
does that vary? There are formulas you can use to accomplish this but what
formula you use depends on what your data is like.
