=AVERAGE(times)

I don't understand what you mean by A1 and A2 columns

if you in a third column have =end_time - start_time
and the third column would be C1:C5 then use
=AVERAGE(C1:C5)

if you want to average all start times and they are in A1:A5

=AVERAGE(A1:A5)
