Default XP vs Vista vs 7

Since you ask about Win XP and Win 7, not Office 2003 v. 2007, much less
Excel 2003 v. 2007, I suggest that you post to an appropriate NG. For an XP
bias, I suggest microsoft.public.windowsxp.general (the DG Windows Windows
XP General Discussion). For a Vista bias, I suggest
microsoft.public.windows.vista.general (the DG Windows Windows Vista
General Discussion).

Post here for any Excel questions.

PS: I wouldn't touch Vista/Win7 or even Office/Excel 2007 with a 10-foot
pole. Sadly, I'm afraid I might have no choice if/when I must replace my
laptop, now 5 years old and starting to suffer mechanical problems. Of
course, by then, I will probably have to take Win10(?) and Office 2010 or
something even more recent (read: risky).

Isn't it true that Windows XP actually did everything Windows Vista and
Windows 7 does with less RAM, less memory, less user frustration, less
expense, no compatibility issues and maybe less compromise of privacy. Why
are we not given a choice of which to spend our money on?
Is XP gone or coming back like the turntable?
