Default Excel File extenion question

You have multiple windows open to the single file.

In xl2003, you can create a new window via:
Window|New Window

Then the windows can be arranged so that you can see both (Window|Arrange).

It can be very useful when you have to see a different worksheet--or even a
different portion of the same worksheet.

If you don't want these multiple "views", you can select the window to close,
then hit ctrl-f4.

Remember to save the workbook the way you like.

I have a file which shows the following extension when I open it ".xls:1". I
think it has something do with me recently viewing this file in a new window
view. How do I get rid of the ":1" after the extension? Am I not closing
something correctly?

Thanks
