If A1 contains the date: Oct 22, 1960
You could use:
=date(year(a1)+50,month(a1),day(a1))
(format the cell as a date)

And you'd be done.

There would be a problem with a date like Feb 29. 50 years in the future won't
be a leap year.

If you're concerned about that, what date should be used: Feb 28 or Mar 1?
