i have tried this code ='d:\[B.xlsx]Sheet1'!$A$1:$C$46 it worked once but
after i saved and closed the workbook. when i reopened the books it did not
work.

also what do i have to put in the listfillrange for the following info

drive D
folder for B.xlsx ????? ???????
sub folder for A.xlsx is timesheet
