Sounds like a two-dimensional table with values down the left side of the
table and values across the top of the table...you match a value on the left
and across the top and find the value where they "intersect", yes?

I've posted a sample workbook called INDEXMATCH-Simple.xls that you can
download and look at the simple examples of how these lookups are done.
