Default need one PERMANENT FORMAT but format changes row to row

You could always apply the formatting to the entire row or column.

You could select all the cells and adjust the rowheight/columnwidth of one of
the selected and all will be made the same.

Hi Dave,

Thank you for your answer. However, isn't there a way to set the format for
the whole file so I don't have to continually copy each line. I'm working on
a large file. In Word, you establish a format that remains in force for the
document. Sometimes I reformat an item, and only some of the fields change.

Hmmm...I just thought of something. I could increase the width of each field
so that everything fits in, and then in the end, reformat everything.

I'd just select one of the perfectly formatted rows
Edit|copy
select the row(s) that I want to fix
Edit|Paste special|formats

I set a format for the file with a font, font size, alignment, word wrap, but
if I add something to the row, add another row, the format I want is gone.
It's very frustrating and time-consuming to have to reformat the rows all the
time. I have extend the formatting on. There must be a way to keep the
formatting. Excel 2003 running on XP. Thanks for your help.
