In Excel 2003 and earlier versions, do not use the AZ or ZA icons on the
standard toolbar. Instead, select the two-column range, and choose Data |
Sort.

In Excel 2007, select the range, and choose Home | (Editing) Sort & Filter |
Custom Sort.
