select cells A3:A5. Enter your transpose formula (note that the 3 cells are
still selected). And press control + shift + enter as this is an array
formula.

I kept at it for hours, but I can't get the Transpose function to work.
In Excel help, they say
"Suppose A1:C1 contain 1, 2, 3, respectively. When the following formula
is
entered as an array into cells A3:A5:
TRANSPOSE($A$1:$C$1) equals the same respective values in A3:A5"
I enter 1 into A1, 2 into B1 and 3 into C1.
I then type "=TRANSPOSE($A$1:$C$1)" in A9
I copy A9, I paste it into A10 and A11. Now cells A9, A10, A11 all
display
"1", instead of 1 in A9, 2 in A10 and 3 in A11. When I copy A9 into B9,
or
B11, then both of these display "2".
Please help - what is it that I am doing incorrectly?
Thanks a lot!
