Try this
ToolsOptionsGeneral uncheck "Ignore other Applications"
Exit Excel and try again
If this doesn't work try to re-register Excel
Close Excel first and
On the Windows Taskbar
1 ) StartRun "excel.exe /unregserver"(no quotes)OK.
2) StartRun "excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)OK.
See the space between exe and /regserver
You might have to designate a full path to excel.exe.
In that case StartRun "C:\yourpath\excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)OK.

Excell files set up as shortcuts will not open. The system sends a "file not
found" message. The same thing occurs when trying to open anExcel attachment
in an email. Other file types open normally (.doc, .dwg, .pdf, .jpg etc).
How do I fix this so that I can open files from desktop shortcuts or from
shortcuts in emails?
I am using Windows XP Home Edition version 2002 Service Pack 1, and Excel
