You might have success with a program to recover deleted files
Disk Utilities - backup, recovery, status (#refUtil)

The second worst thing that could happen is that it works and you still
don't create backups for the next time it happens. Because your chances
are not all that good.

You should start taking backups and that's what the page is really about:
