Don't use all caps.
In Excel versions up to 2003, this is not a problem, so I presume you are
using 2007. If SP1 is installed it should also not be a problem. I did have
some issues with this recently, though, and discovered if I applied a date
type of number format to the axis tick labels first, Excel was much happier
accepting dates in the XY chart axis scale entry boxes.
