Try this:
Enter start time in A1 and completed time in B1 (enter hours and minutes
seperated by :)
In C1 enter formula:
=IF(B1A1,TEXT(B1-A1,"h:mm")&" late",TEXT(A1-B1,"h:mm")&" early")
