Hi,
The $ sign fixes the reference such that if you drag the formula dow or
across it doesn't change.
if you drag the formula =a1 down it becomes =A2 but if you have =$A$1 and
rag it it doesnt change
There are 4 states of reference
Relative =A1
Row absolute = A$1
Column absolute =$A1
Absolute =$A$1
