with control & left mouse to COPY - ensure you let the mouse go first and
then the control otherwise it will MOVE the data as does just dragging with
the left mouse button down on the cell border of the active cell

Ctrl + right mouse button drag gives you a multitude of choices

Ctrl-X and Ctrl-V will MOVE a cell or range of cells
