I attempted your formula and it didn't work
It came back with #VALUE
Here's the modified formula:
=AVERAGE(IF(WEEKDAY($C$2:$C$8)=ROW(A2),$D$1:$D$8))

It will return div/0 error if there are no data for that day of week but you
