Default Excel 2007 Pivot Table

I think what you are describing is this:

When you select your pivot table, two new ribbon options appear: Options
and Design. Go to the Design ribbon and click the Report Layout button. It
sounds like you are in compact form where what you are looking for is tabular
form.
