Why is ext .xlnm inserted in formula every time I close a doc
Shane:
Hi, Thanks for the reply. I tried changing the remote file to .xls [same
result] I tried .xlsm [same result]. Everything works fine until I close
the doc. and re-open it later. The file I am working in is an .xlsm
extension because It contains a Macro. If I have a photo associated with the
File, a photo appears, if not the screen is data only. I beleive you
replied to a simular post from me a while back. Well the problem is back.
[but only if i close the file]

Hi,
I've seen this once before on this forum and at the time I assumed the
VLOOKUP was actually pointing at a different file, but twice, highly unlikely.
Here is something you might try, change the file type of the external file
to a 2007 file - XLSX or XLSM extension and see if it works. If it doesn't
post back.
Cheers,

I have Excel 2007. I have a formula that works until I close and re-open.
_xlnm. is then inserted in all formulas and makes everything fail. When I
manually remove the _xlnm. everything works OK again. The file is saved in
the .xlsm format.
Turn off the computer and come back the next day, _xlnm. is again in all
the formulas what is _xlnm. anyway, what does it stand for?
Msg before Fail =VLOOKUP(H3,'J:\external hard drive data\CCCBC\Database
and Reader\Learning\2009 CCCBC DataBase.xls'!Database,4)
Msg After fail =VLOOKUP(H3,'J:\external hard drive data\CCCBC\Database and
Reader\Learning\2009 CCCBC DataBase.xls'!_xlnm.Database,4)
