Default protect row of cells

Hi shane thanks for that but i was hoping to not have to keep unprotecting
the sheet everytime i want to insert a comment . i know on the older version
of exel you could uncheck a box as an option in the protect sheet drop down
before protecting the sheet . Ho hum back to the drawing board

Hi,

1. If you want to enter comments in a protected sheet, unprotect the sheet
and then
choose Tools, Protection, Protect Sheet and turn on the checkbox beside Edit
Objects in the Allows... area.

2. You can protect a single row by unlocking all cells in the sheet and then
selecting the singe row and locking those cells. You lock or unlock cells by
selecting them and choosing Format, Cells, Protection tab, check or
unchecking the Locked box. Locking doesn't take effect until you protect the
worksheet.

If this helps, please click the Yes button
