Default revealing format of a cell

Thank you very much for your help, Bernie.

James,

You would need to use a custom, user-defined function, coded in VBA.

For example

Function IsBold(r As Range) As Boolean
IsBold = R.Font.Bold
End Function

used like

=IsBold(A1)

but it won't recalc automatically - use Ctrl-Shift-F9 - and it won't reveal bolding applied by
Conditional formatting. That is a whole other kettle of fish.

Hi - Is there a formula that allows me to reveal a cell's format in Excel
2003? I want to be able to distinguish between cells in bold font (e.g.
return "true") vs cells not in bold font (e.g. return "false")? Any help
appreciated! Thanks.
