Default Excel Charts

Jon ---

I did exactly as specified, and when I got to "Click on the Series Tab,"
the exact same diagnostic popped up. At this point all I can do is hit
"Cancel" and be done with it.

Am I exceeding the capacity of this system? Do I need to do anything to
this XP system I'm running on?

Thankx in advance from The Big Gray Cat

How are you trying to rename the series?

Right click the chart, select Source Data, click on the Series tab, select
the series, then either type something in the Name box, or click in the name
box and select a cell containing the name.

Folks ---

I can create a chart using the chart wizard rather easily.

HOWEVER, when I try to rename the "Series 1" or "Series 2" names in the
legend to something useful, I get a pop-up diagnostic that reads: "A
formula
in this worksheet contains one or more invalid references. Verify that
your
formulas [sic] contain a valid path, workbook, range name, and cell
reference."

Hmmm.

It appears that I'm exceeding the capacity of what appears to be a data
entry field that the wizard's using to set up the chart. If I leave the
"Series" names, I'm fine.
Anything else, and I go off the rails. All I can do is hit "Cancel."

Thankx in advance from The Big Gray Cat\
