Default reports for project Please HELP

I am managing a master plan with 13 individual project plans inside. I work
for an advertising agency and these are interactive projects.

We are trying to pull a MS Project Visual Report to show total hours worked
per month by each resource working on the project. When we utilize the
Resource Work Availability Report or the Resource Work Report Summary, we
cannot figure out where the work availability number comes from? And why is
it 352 for almost all of our resources? Is it days, hours, per quarter, per
year? When I move the tab that controls the day, week, month, and year; The
report comes out with the same numbers each time? How can that be?

What is the best way to pull the following out of a project using MS Project
Report?
-total hours worked per month by each resource
-see whos working where and what theyre availability is or isnt.
-see projects that are most pressing or important at the time

Should I use Visual Reports or Create a custom report?

PLEASE HELP!!!
