Default autofill button is not appearing when I select cells in Excel 2007

I have a function in a cell (F12) that I am trying to fill down the rest of
column F without changing the formatting. Initially there was a bad function
in the entire column. When I selected F12 and then dragged to select the
columns below it, I got the little fill option button which I clicked and
then had the option to fill formulas only, not formatting. However, when I
did this, only about a fifth of the cells filled with the new formula, the
rest retained the old one.

So I deleted the formulas in all the cells except F12 and tried dragging to
select them all again. Now the fill option button is no longer appearing. I
can't make it appear no matter how I click or select cells. I've tried it in
other spreadsheets and cannot make it appear anymore. The standard fill
button on the toolbar does not have "formulas only" as an option.
(Incidentally, if I reopen an old version of this worksheet I can recreate
the issue in my first paragraph.)

Any suggestions on how I can fill just the formula and not the formatting?
Any idea what that little box/button thing doesn't appear anymore?

Thanks,

Kelly

p.s. With Excel 2007 I feel like an English speaker in French Immersion
school. I figure out how to do basic stuff I used to do all the time in
earlier versions and there is no way for me to switch interfaces back and
forth to figure it out.
