Default Add csv to Open "All Excel Files" (XL2007)

I don't think that we are talking about the same thing. When you click on
Open, the default is "All Excel Files" and a list of such files is presented
in parentheses. The list is (*.xl; *.slsx; *.xlsm; *.xlsb; *.xlam; *.xltx;
*.xltm; *.xls; *.xlt; *.htm; *.html; *.mht; *.mhtl; *.xml; *.xla; *.xhv;
*.odc; *.uxdc;). Neither .csv nor ".txt" is in that list and neither text
nor .csv files are displayed in the active folder window from which you
select a file to open. You have to go down and change "All Excel Files" to
"All Files (*.*)" in order to open a .csv file.

My question again is, is there a way to add ".csv" to the list of "All Excel
Files" so that you do not have to switch to "All Files" in order to see .csv
files that can be opened?

Thanks.

hi, Jim !

AFAIK, *.csv files are included in 2007 as file type: - text files

When you click on the Office Button in Excel 2007 and then click on Open the default dialog box is "Open All Excel Files."
Excel will automatically open .csv files, but .csv files are not among those that are displayed by default for selection.
You have to go down to the lower right corner and change "All Excel Files" to "All Files (*.*)"
in order to see .csv files that can be selected for opening.
Is there some way to add .csv files to the list of files that are included in "All Excel Files"?
It's strange that ".html" and ".htm" files are listed under "All Excel Files"
(when most of them would open as gibberish), and ".csv" files are not included.
