Default missing patch (.msp?)

Hello, I had a brain strom idea, that I would clean up some un-used progams
on my computer. In the process, I uninstalled a trial version of Office 2007.
I'm perfectly happy with 2003, but my wife was using 2007 in a college class
and we thought we'd try it. Anyway, as soon as it was uninstalled, I could no
longer work with Excel 2003. The Windows Installer screen pops up and I can't
get rid of it. If I cancel out of it, it comes back. If I try to access a
file, a screen that says I'm missing some type of patch appears, after the
installer screen. I tried to have my computer searched for Office downloads,
via the Office web site, but it couldn't be done. Again, saying that I'm
missing some type of .msp (patch).

Can anyone help me get back on track?!! Once I realized that something I
needed may have been uninstalled with 2007, I went into Windows and restored
things, but it still didn't help.

Thanks!!!
Scotty
