Default sum of range containing formula in blanks

There are numbers in a range of cells that i need to add up but within the
range are "blanks" that are actually formulas like this
=IF(OR($BX3=BA$2,$BY3=BA$2,$BZ3=BA$2,$CA3=BA$2,$CB 3=BA$2,$CC3=BA$2),$AE3,"")
that were returned as blanks.
when i try to add up the row, i get 0. how can i ignore the "blanks" and
just add the values?
