Default Conditional formatting

Yes. Use a formula in the conditional formatting. For example with

=$C2="D" you can then specify date formatting

Then add another rule with
=$C2="H" and specify 1 decimal place

Use the 'C' column for your H,D, etc values

I'm using Excel 2007 which I just installed this week so I don't know if
this works in Excel 2003.
