Default COUNT IF A VALUE FALLS WITHIN A RANGE IN A SINGLE CELL

Try this:

List the boundaries in ascending order and drop the "s" :

...........A.....B......C......D.......E.....F
1...............50...100...200...300...400
2.......57........................................ ....

Enter this formula in B2 and copy across to F2:

=IF(OR($A2<$B1,$A2499),"",IF(B1=LOOKUP($A2,$B1:$F 1),1,""))
