Default Headers change on different computers.

We have a number of Excel documents stored on a server in a read only
folders. The documents are created from a template. In the template the
header of each document has a field that is filled in from the file
information and is intended to display and print the document number and
revision. On some documents the header displays different information
depending on which network computer the documents is opened. For example,
opening the document on computer 1, the header is correct and editing it
shows the field reference. On computer 2, opening the same document from the
same source the header display is correct but editing the field shows the
text referenced by the field. Again opening the same document from the same
read only folder the header displays a previous revision even though the
document text is current. If you use the pull down selection box for the
headers computer 3 has different selections than computer 2.

Does anyone have an explanation for this behavior?
