I should have added that you need to drag down the =Rand() function as far
as the names column goes. HTH Otto

Use two columns. In the first column place all the employee names. In
the first cell of the second column type "=Rand()" without the quotes.
Note that "()" is an open parentheses followed by a closed one. Sort the
two columns with the Rand() column the key column. This sorts the
employee names in a random order. If you want to select 15 employee
names, simple take the first 15 names. HTH Otto

Otto,
I have a list of employees who need to get drug tested on a random basis.
I
wanted to know if Excel has a function of randomly selecting a certain
number
or percent of people from the list.

Could you provide some details about what you are trying to do. As
regards your question, do you want to manually select cells in a random
order or do you want Excel to do so in some automatic way? HTH Otto
