Default Opening Excel produces multiple copies

Ron,

Those are three windows of the same workbook. Click the X at the upper
right (below the application close X) to close two of the three windows (the
:1 or :2 will disappear) then save the workbook.

When I open certain Excel spreadsheets, the system automatically tacks on
a
:1 or :2 or :3 to the end of the file name and opens up 3 copies of the
spreadsheet. All 3 appear to be the same spreadsheet and if the
information
is changed on any of the three, it is changed on the other two. But I
don't
like it!! How do I get the file NOT to open this way? Thanks!!
