I have the exact same problem.
3-4 minuts to open any excel file.... any one?

minutes. When Excel is closed and I double click an existing xls - three
minutes. If a xls is open and I open a second xls - another three minutes.

The program did not do this yesterday and I have not installed or
uninstalled any software. All the xls's I use open, normally, in a second or
so. No macro's or fancy formula's, no vba.
