.. This works fine on every month except one
where there is no drop down arrow
when you click in the cell.

On a spare copy, try "Open and Repair" (Excel 2003)
(taken from a Bob Phillips' post)

Click File Open, navigate to folder, select the file, then click the arrow
dropdown on the right of the "Open" button choose "Open and Repair".
