On the pc.

Try it on one, then test it to see if it helps.

The /unregserver & /regserver stuff resets the windows registry to excel's
factory defaults.

Maybe one of these will work for you.

as being open by a linked file, thus causing it to go searching for that file

Excel first and then open the same worksheet the links are different.
