Mouse Hover display
In Windows explorer, R-click, then Properties, then Summary.

I'm using Vista, with Office 2007. When I right click the file, I get a
dialog box, but there is no area to enter comments there. I actually have to
open the file and go to properties to enter the comment. When I hover over
the file, it just gives file type, author, date modified, and file size.

In comments, it shows my comment, which is "this file is confidential".

R-click the file, pick Properties, Summary. What appears there?

I also attempted this, and didn't see any comments when I hovered.
Any thoughts?

I'm running Office 2007, so I opened the file, went to prepare, and

pulled up properties. I found the comments area, and filled it in. I
then
saved the document. It still displays the file information, such as
file
type, author, and so on, even after I've added the comments. Am I
missing
something?
Thanks for all your help!

With file open go to FilePropertiesSummary.
Enter whatever you want in the "Comment" section.
Save and hover to see your comment.

Not sure if this is the right area or not...and if it isn't, I do
apologize.
I'm looking for a way that I can add a comment to a file in
general...not
just a cell. Specifically what I'm looking for is the ability to read
a
comment about a file before I click on it. In other words, I have a
list of
files saved in a folder on my desktop. As I'm browsing through the
folder
itself, I would like comments about the files inside the folder to
appear as
I'm holding my mouse over it. Currently, if I hover my pointer over a
file
name, I get the author of the file, size of the file, date it was
modified,
and so on. Is this permanent, or is it customizable? Thanks for all
the help!
