If you use a linked cell for that checkbox, you can check it in your formula.

For instance, if A3 is the linked cell for the checkbox hovering over A3, this
formula would go in A2:

=if(a3=true,a1,"")
or
=if(a3<true,"",a1)

Or if A1 can be empty:
=if(a3<true,"",if(a1="","",a1))
(to stop 0 from showing up when A1 is empty)
