Default Tying to extract all data from a pivot pulling from external d

Ted;

I tried this in 2003 and have absolutely no problems iwth it. I don't have
your data so I can't tell you exactly what is wrong.

I found one offender. I created a sample table with part number, qty, cost.
When I move the Part Number to the header marked Drop Page Fields Here,
instead of the Drop Column/Row Fields Here, I get a drop down that allows me
to see the subtotals for the Part Number I select. Try pulling your data back
to the Pivot Table field list and reordering your data.

God Bless

I tried formatting the souce data as text and as number and got the smae
result either the number or alphanumeric dropped off and left me with a blank
pivot field with the total value for all records that were dropped under that
"blank" pivot field...Thanks

Are you formatting the columns or the pivot table results as text. Seems like
if the columns are formatted as text, it should treat them as entitys instead
of combining or dropping them.

I am trying to pull all values through a pivot referencing an external data
source (another excel sheet). The problem I have it the column has order
numbers that are both numberic and alphanumeric. (some are 123456 and others
are AB654321). When I get the pivot only the numerical records appear and
the alphanumeric records are left blank and I get a subtotal. This goes both
ways depending if I format as a number or as text...Any suggestions
